Myanmar formerly known as Burma is one of the few truly original travel experiences remaining in this much travelled world.

The main language in Myanmar is Burmese. English is spoken quite widely, especially in cities and by older people. The scenery varies from the vast central agricultural plains, to snow capped mountains in the far north. Shan State features cool and verdant hills, while along the coastline there are endless beaches with white sand, coconut palms and gin clear water, many still to be opened up to tourism. From the north to the south flows the majestic Ayeyarwaddy (Irrawaddy), one of the world's great rivers.

Travel Insurance: Tamarind Travel will wish to sight your travel insurance documents. Please ensure you have coverage for cancellation fees, airfare and or land content costs, strikes, loss of luggage, and medical evacuation.

Medical: No vaccinations are required for Myanmar however it is recommended that you visit your GP or Travel Doctor to discuss your requirements. A reasonable level of fitness is required. 

Passports and Visas: A valid passport is necessary to cover the total length of your journey away from Australia, with at least six months validity from the estimated time you arrive back in Australia. A visa is required and I can obtain this for you or you can arrange yourself through the Embassy in Canberra.

Clothing: Light cotton clothing is recommended. warm clothing should be packed if visiting hilly regions as the nights can be cold. When visiting religious sites a respectful dress code must be adhered to. As footwear is strictly prohibited in religious precincts, sandals and slip-on shoes are highly recommended.

Customs: Myanmar currency cannot be imported or exported. All visitors must declare valuables and money over the value of US$2000 on arrival at Yangon International Airrport. A customs declaration form is to be completed and presented on departure to customs counter. Buddha images, antiques, and gems are not to be taken out of Myanmar without the official dealers receipt. Please ask for such documents when you purchase.

Airport Tax: Airport departure tax for international flights is US$10

Reservations: You  are advised to reserve your place and confirm participation as soon as practical. A full payment is required within 7 days to re-confirm and  secure your position.After this has occurred an invoice and receipt and ticketing will be forwarded by email or courier.

Cancellation: Once you have a confirmed reservation and paid for your tour, the ticketing arrangements are non transferable and are set in place for all sectors of the tour and we are not able to refund or cancel accommodation or airfares. Changes after this time will be between you and your travel insurance supplier.
